Ernie Trakas
Ernie Trakas has tried cases for the better part of four decades. In that time, his practice has included civil and criminal litigation. For most of the past twenty years Ernie's practice has been focused on civil and disability rights, defending public school districts, colleges and universities, and businesses in federal discrimination cases under federal Civil Rights Act(s), American with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Missouri Human Rights Act. Ernie has tried in the United States District Courts in Washington, D.C. and Missouri. He has also successfully argued cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth and District of Columbia Circuits. In 2017, tired of law firm politics, need to handle matters unrelated to civil rights, and the ever present pressure of hourly billing, Ernie decided to start his own firm so he could dedicate his practice exclusively to civil and disability rights cases. The Trakas Group was formed for that purpose.
